How Deep is Your Heart? Deep Inside the Darkness
Zrykari gave a small 'hmph' as he scanned the sky. Grey clouds hung heavy in the heavens, and pulling up his mask, the man flicked his hood up with a small twitch of his wrists. It smelled almost of rain, but it was still too early to be sure. Turning to leave, he paused long enough for his partner to jump up onto his shoulder. Paws scrabbling against his cloak, the silver and grey eevee finally found his grip, settling in with a flick of his tail. Exchanging a brief glance, the man left the cover of the awning he had paused under.
The streets were littered with brightly colored businesses and cafe's, cheery signs glaring in the grey morning as they loudly proclaimed their presence for all as Zrykari passed them by, occasionally sparing a cursory glance before continuing on. He had to wonder how many people in this city really had amnesia. Was it an entire city, simply filled with people from all different walks of life? Was there a purpose to it? It didn't matter. He would find out one way or another. But he wouldn't bend to their little game and simply forget that he might have had a past. Who he had been before may not matter, but the why? That mattered.
Kagitsun shook his fur as a drop of water landed on his head. It seemed it was going to rain after all. Sighing softly, Zrykari glanced at his partner and the examined the street around them. Cute little shops lined both sides, and disgusted, he shook his head, finally deciding on a smaller looking one without another glance at what it was.
Stepping into the tiled bakery, the first thing that struck the man was the overly sweet smell of desserts and pastries. The door tinkled as it shut behind him, and he closed his eyes a moment. Of course. Purple eyes flicking open again, he looked over the rest of the room with contempt. Kagitsun leapt from his shoulder, the eevee landing light on his feet with a dismissive glance back at his trainer. Sitting, the pokemon preceded to give his fur a few licks before settling down with a dismal glare in his dark blue gaze.
Letting his partner be, Zrykari gave a cursory glance to the bright board hung on the wall. Sliding a black wallet from the folds of his grey cloak, he flipped through it, deftly removing a few bills from it. The wallet disappeared again a moment later, and he waited to see who would appear to greet the customer. His hopes were not high though, and he expected nothing much from such a pitiful and childish place. MADE BY VEL OF GS + ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

| 私はちょうど何が重要か見つけようとしている。
It was morning. Chel knew this because there were a lot of people, and she had to balance making enough pastries to have enough fresh ones for people to take and being at the counter often enough to take orders. It wasn't too terribly hard yet. It got harder as the time approached noon, and easier as it slid away from noon. Mornings until noon were typically busiest, though, and so Chel was hard at work, trying to keep baking and manning the register balanced. Maybe she should get someone else to help her? The only people she knew, though, already had jobs or shops of their own...
She was in the kitchen. Out front, in the customer area, she could hear the sounds of people. She knew that Abby the Chikorita was probably preening on the counter, sometimes elsewhere in the shop, looking for some attention. Not too much, though. Abby was a bit lazy sometimes. It was rainy outside today. There was a big window in the kitchen, and the front of the store was covered in windows. Even when it rained, it made the whole building feel bright and warm and open. Chel liked that. It was much better than if the shop had been mostly closed. She wouldn't have been able to stand that.
She stepped out of the bakery. Benji was on her shoulders again. She didn't like leaving Benji places, and Benji didn't like leaving her. She didn't like leaving Benji because Benji had soft, pettable, comforting fur. Benji didn't like leaving her because Benji- well, for whatever reason Benji had, Benji didn't like leaving her. So Benji was on her shoulders, as usual, when she stepped out of the kitchen to put more pastries on the shelves again. Her lightly pink-white hair was tied up today, though her two loose braids were also still in place.
It took Chel a moment to notice that there was someone at the counter. He had dark clothes. There was a silver Eevee next to him, which made Chel happy. It always made her happy to see other Pokemon, and it always made her happy to see other people who liked carrying their Pokemon out of Pokeballs. Abby was on the counter. She looked at the man and made a few chattering noises, trying to get his attention. Chel pet her for a moment as she stood up from putting the pastries in the cabinet. Benji was less happy, though. The Sentret had moved to on top of Chel's head and was staring at the brown-haired, grey-eyed man with a disapproving expression.
Chel did not see this. She did see that the man had grey eyes, though. They reminded her of rain. She blinked for a moment. "Hello. I am sorry I was not here immediately but I was still baking. Welcome to Hearts and Smiles Bakery. Is there anything in particular you'd like to order?" She paused for a moment, cocking her head like she was thinking, before adding "Your friend fox is very cute. It is nice to meet you, silver fox." She nodded quite certainly, as though her statement made all of the sense in the world and was exactly what anyone would say in the situation. |
