i'm just trying to find what's really important.
ChelSEA "CHEL" STEINFELD
age 19 | gender FEMALE | STARTER SENTRET |
BIRTHDATE 03/14 | SEXUALITY ACE/ARO | Profession PASTRY CHEF |
PERSONALITY,
Chel is, to put it simply, rather... childish. She's not childish in the "pranks people" or the "causes trouble" or the "tells childish jokes" sense, though. She's more childish in the sense that she has a great love of childish things, like fluffy Pokemon or playing games. She's also a little childish in that, perhaps in consequence for how terribly lost losing her memories has made her feel, she can be somewhat dependent and clingy, in her own quiet sort of way. This also leads to her being rather naive, and she will trust most people implicitly if they help her, making her very, very easy to take advantage of.
She's a rather quiet girl, and she's sometimes hard to get a read on emotionally. While she displays childish enthusiasm, it's very tempered. In fact, most people would probably describe her as somewhat emotionally repressed, perhaps also leading to her quiet childishness. She has a dull voice and a dull expression, though from time to time, such expressions as wonder and excitement filter through. When she does show emotions visibly, they're very, very genuine emotions. She doesn't know how to fake emotions well, either, and is more likely to say exactly what she feels than try to spare someone's feelings, though she will get upset when they get upset at her.
She doesn't make many friends. She's a reserved little girl- no. She's actually a teenager, and that's part of it. This childish side that she's retreated into unnerves a lot of people when it's taking place in the body of a somewhat blank-eyed teenager instead of an actual child. Another reason is her emotional reservedness. While she trusts anyone who does well by her, it takes a little bit more than that to make her a real friend, as that trust is not necessarily one-hundred-percent full-hearted, just visibly so. A true friend is someone who keeps on coming back for her, and she'll come back for that friend in return, taking care of them in her own odd way.
She sometimes has trouble with empathy as well. She'll certainly feel bad for people, but her ability to actually feel emotions with them seems to be somewhat limited. She's downright terrible at reading expressions and intentions. Trying to be sarcastic with her fails utterly because she reads it like it's completely literal instead of at all sarcastic. This, along with her bluntness, often causes others to double-take slightly, especially since she rarely changes her tone of voice and does not recognize when she says something ridiculous and/or accidentally insensitive because of it.
Chel does, however, have a surprisingly tough side to her. While she is easy to take advantage of, thanks to her trust and her general inability to recognize other people's bad intentions, she's surprisingly calm when she finds out she's been duped. For someone so childish, she has a very calm approach to things. However, on those rare occasions when someone takes advantage of her or lord forbid they take advantage of her Pokemon or her friends, she can and will retaliate.
See, there's this slightly terrifying side to Chel that might be the root reason why she's so childish in the first place. If she's a blank emotional slate most of the time, she goes blank, cold, monotone when she's truly angry, and she acts with little remorse if she realizes she's been crossed. There's a surprising intelligence in her, too, one that's visibly when she's not angry but one that coldly blares when she is. Oddly enough, taking advantage of Chel herself is rarely the way to truly trigger this. Triggering this typically takes hurting the people around Chel, or perhaps placing her in a very cold environment.
Most of the time, Chel is just a quiet, somewhat childish girl with a calm, somewhat blank expression, tightly clutching one of her fluffiest Pokemon to her chest, or perhaps leading them around with her, with a slight talent for cooking. She's really quite sweet, if rather blunt and incapable of recognizing sarcasm. She's just also got a slight dark side that can come out to play when she's at her most furious, like the childish naivety in her is shut off, and all that's left is her colder, more emotionless side.
She loves Pokemon, and as a result, will sell treats for Pokemon along with her human pastries when she makes them. She loves Pokemon a lot, but is terrible at battling, mostly because she's reluctant to send them into danger. Having Pokemon around also makes her open up a bit more. She's rarely seen without one out of their Pokeball, on her shoulders, in her arms, or following her around. Her bakery will allow Pokemon of any size, so long as they can still fit inside.
(She is actually aware of some of her problems communicating and, sometimes, late at night, when she can't hide as well, wonders if something in her might be a little bit broken. It's these times when her emotions are most at the surface, and when she needs people most. It's also when Chel will shut them out most, though, so good luck getting in there to help her.)

TALENTS:
- Baking: it must be a talent carried over somewhere, because she's surprisingly very, very good at this, especially at baking anything with sugar in it. hence the bakery.
- Staying calm: she does this naturally, even when she's freaking out a little inside. she'll look calm and act calm, and sometimes that calms other people down, too. how useful!
- Making friends with Pokemon: she might be terrible at battling, but she is good at making friends, probably because she's calm and honest in her emotions. it also helps that she always acts so happy around them.
- Hiding things: all of her emotions are honest and she doesn't lie well, but she's so blunt and so confusing and so hard to reach sometimes that when she wants something hidden, it just sort of... gets there. if directly asked, she'd probably say, but the problem is, what question to ask?
ASPIRATIONS:
- Make new friends: she's shy and a bit lonely, but she's determined to try to make friends with someone and then they'll both be happy and not lonely! besides, they're playing a game together, certainly she can meet someone trustworthy... right?
- Stay: ...every time she thinks of going there, she becomes determined to stay here. she doesn't want to go home. She doesn't know why, but she likes it here, where the Pokemon are all in the city and she has a fluffy sentret and a bakery and she thinks she could get quite happy and not always be in that cold, dark place she sometimes goes to. chel is determined to stay, and so she'll play the game to help other people be happy but she doesn't want to win. for now, this probably won't mean much, but in the future...
